Who is Shaykh Aboobacker Ahmed?

The founder of Markazu Saquafathi Sunniyya, Kerala - India

Grand Mufti of India, Shaykh Aboobacker Ahmed Musliyar (Hafida'ullah) was born on 22nd March 1931 in the rural suburb of Kanthapuram in the Kozhikode district of Kerala (India). He is among the top most Sunni Leaders from Indo-Pak Subcontinent and a globally acclaimed Islamic Scholar. He follows Shafi'i Fiqh of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah. 

#Qualification:-

Shaykh Aboobacker Ahmed completed his elementary studies from A.M.L.P. School of Kanathapuram (Kerala), where both Islamic and public instruction system co existed. Later he completed his higher elementary education and completed his course in Qur'an studies from Vennakkode Abdulla Musliyar, who was a famous Scholar and Qari'a. He persuaded his studies in the Darses (the form of schools exist in mosques for religious and spiritual education) of Kanthapuram, Vavad, Kolikkal, Chaliyam and Thalakkadathur. He was awarded the degree of Moulavi Fadhil Baqavi from the renowned Islamic study centre of Baqiyath Swalihath, Vellore, in 1963. Sheikh Hassan Hazrath, Muhammed Abubakkar Hazrath, Puthoor Abdulla Musliyar, Kizhakoth Abdul Hameed Musliyar are some of his famous teachers in different institutions and disciplines.

Starting his career as a Mudarris, (Principal of Dars) at the Juma Masjid of Mangad (Elettil), in 1964, he served the same in Kolikkal Juma Masjid between 1970-76 and in Kanthapuram Juma Masjid during 1976 to 1981. Since 1981 he is the chief instructor at the Markaz Shariath College.

Shaykh Aboobacker Ahmed is a notable Muslim scholar, writer, author, educational revivalist, environmentalist, and peace & interfaith dialogue promoter. He has consecutively been ranked for many years as an influential Muslim from India by the prestigious Directory, “The Muslim 500”, published by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre of Jordan. He also received many awards and honours such as:

#Contribution:-

Shaykh Aboobacker founded Jamia Markazu Saquafathi Sunniyya in 1978, headquartered in Karanthur and spread all over the Indian states, which is perhaps the largest educational institution in the Asian continent. The foundation stone was laid by the Saudi Arabian Islamic scholar Muhaddith Shaykh Al-Sayyid Muhammad Alawi al-Maliki (Rahima'ullah). It has roughly 43,000 students studying under faculty of Islamic studies, Arts, Science, and Theology.

He runs on behalf of the Jamia Markaz nearly 300 public schools and other primary educational centres. Apart from those primary educational centres, he has even contributed several centres of excellence including the upcoming educational initiation of Markaz Knowledge City, creating the opportunity for the study and jobs in the technical and professional sectors.
